How to beat a bug + Jambalaya + Squats

Woke yesterday with a nasty little sinus bug.  The following is how I beat such a bug ASAP:

  1. Extra Vitamin D – 10,000iu x 3 (tried this after reading it on the first sign of symptoms, then taper down to whatever dose you normally take over the next 3-5 days.
  2. Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) 1/2 tsp x 4 the first 2-3 days of symptoms, 3 x days 3-4, 2 x days 4-5
  3. 5g L-Glutamine with Baking Soda
  4. Fasting (optional) 24 hr or so.  My general rule is if your appetite diminishes during a cold/etc, don’t eat.  Your body is smarter than you, don’t try to outsmart it or trick it.

Using this protocol, I went from being floored yesterday to setting a recent squat PR today.   Give it a shot and watch it work for you!

WORK – Squats

  1. Z-Health Warmup
  2. Squats – 3
    • 135 x 5
    • 185 x 5
    • 235 x 3
    • 275 x 3
    • 305 x 7
    1. Squats – 5 x 10 @ 160#
    2. Farmers Walks (Zig Zagging) – 4 x 100# DB’s @ around 20 yards or so.

    Awesome work today.  Got in, kicked ass, got out.  Hope you do the same.

    From Mark’s Daily Apple, this delicious and satisfying recipe is both simple and fairly quick to table.   This is a combination of: Chicken, Andouille Sausage and Shrimp, in a tomatoey broth.  Try it without the faux rice, it’s even better (sorry Mark)!
