Pumpkin Mash Recipe + TFOD 5.25.10 (Press)

May 26, 2010

Pumpkins aren’t just for pie friends!  This pumpkin mash idea popped into my head yesterday, and it turned out better than I could have imagined.

This is an outrageously delicious side dish.  Eat it tonight.

  • 1 can (15oz) Pumpkin  – not pumpkin pie mix, I used Farmers Market brand.  It was at Target and organic.
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 1/2 – 1 tsp of garlic
  • 1/8-1/4 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 tbsp lard (you can use bacon drippings or butter)
  • Butter to taste (I used 3 tbsp or so)
  • Salt + Pepper to taste

Chop and cook the onion in a large pan until translucent, add garlic after the onion has been on for  a minute or two (you just don’t want that garlic to burn).  Once the onions are translucent, add in the entire can of pumpkin and heavy cream and mix thoroughly.  At this point, add salt, pepper and butter to taste.

Once it gets hot, it’s ready to go.  Serve as a side with a delicious Ribeye steak and you’re ready to rock!

  1. Z-Health Neural Warmup
  2. Press (Military) – 5/3/1
    • 105 x 3
    • 120 x 3
    • 135 x 8
  3. Press – 5 x 10 reps @ 65#
  4. Chinups
    • BW x 5
    • BW x 3
    • 45# x 3 x 3 sets
    • BW x 12 reps

Great workout, felt awesome and definitely got stronger today.  The 5×10 of press was a nice change of pace, and I seemed to just get stronger as the sets of chinups went along.  Shoulder health is a big concern of mine, and this workout appears to be adding mounds of strength to the whole situation.  Probably either start or finish this off with Blackburns next week, to further work on scapular stability and mobilization.

Rock and Roll
